PIONEER, TN (WLAF) – A man and a woman suffered severe burns on Saturday evening when the engine of the ATV side-by-side they were riding caught fire according to officials.

One official explains that the couple had gas cans on the unit, and that they caught fire.

Crews with the La Follette Rescue Squad and Campbell County Rural Fire Service arrived and started patient care. Both patients were transported by crews to the awaiting ambulances which in turn transported both patients to Lifestar Helicopters.

The mishap occurred at 6:06pm on Trail 19, Walnut Mountain Trail. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 09/05/2021-4PM)
