The LZ (landing zone) for the two medical helicopters was set up on the General Carl Stiner Highway in front of Lee’s Market.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Two Speedwell men are recovering this morning from injuries sustained in a single-vehicle wreck that happened on Sunday afternoon east of La Follette.

Officials with the Tennessee Highway Patrol detail that 46-year old Billy Hatfield was driving a 1994 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck east on Bethlehem Road. The truck went off the roadway to the right, hit a fence and then struck a tree coming to a final uncontrolled rest. Hatfield’s passenger was 63-year old Richard Wright. LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Two men were injured on Sunday afternoon when their pick-up truck hit a tree on Bethlehem Road. The call came in to Central Dispatch at 2:12pm.

Both victims were airlifted to a Knoxville hospital in separate med choppers.

Stiner Highway was temporarily shut down on Sunday afternoon.

Responding agencies were the Campbell County Rural Fire Service, Campbell County EMS, Tennessee Highway Patrol and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 08/22/2021-6:30PM)
