JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – The local Tennessee College of Applied Technology’s (TCAT) practical nursing program was ranked sixth in the state by Best Value Schools.

School president Debbie Petree said she was excited about the ranking and is “proud of the program.”

“TCAT Jacksboro values the importance of preparing well-trained individuals for the workforce. Having our practical nursing program ranked sixth in the state is just one way we continue to fulfill our mission of student success and workforce development,” Petree said.

According to Petree, this ranking could not be possible without the “great faculty and staff that work behind the scenes to ensure student success.”

The daytime LPN program offered at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology Jacksboro provides students with the basic nursing skills that are necessary to work in various healthcare settings. Students learn through classroom instruction and clinical experiences.

Some areas of study included in the 12-month program are body structure and function during wellness and illness, nutrition, pharmacology, and obstetrics. Students also provide supervised nursing care to pediatrics, surgical, medical, and obstetrics patients.
