CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF) – Last night the Caryville Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted to hire John Minor as an officer with the Caryville Police Department, after completing his 90 day probation period. Minor comes to the department with 11 years of experience. Since coming aboard he has been assigned 25 cases to investigate and has closed 19 of those cases.

Codes Officer Lisa Crumpley updated the board on the progress of clean up at the Red Roof Inn. Crumpley reported that while work was at a stand still and hazardous at this point, work would resume after the 13th by the motel owner. Crumpley continued that if the owner does not resume work, the board may need to look at legal action. She also reported that she had spoken with the owner of the Exxon building about clean up on the property.

Ordinance No. 2021-06 amending the annual operating budget for the fiscal year 2021-06 had a second reading and Ordinance No. 2021-07 amending the annual operating drug fund for the fiscal year 2020-21 had a first reading. The ordinance paid for a copier for the police department and transferred $9,000 to the general fund to go toward the purchase of a patrol car. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 08/10/2021-6AM)
