LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Last weekend, Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy Raymond Surber answered a call about theft of property. When Surber arrived, the victim reported his pontoon boat and trailer had been stolen from his boat trailer lot and box trailer was broken into and a toolbox with assorted tools was missing.

After completing the call about the theft, Surber was dispatched to Farris Circle for a non-related call. Surber answered the call with Deputy Larry Thomas who noticed the missing pontoon boat and trailer were sitting in the yard next to where they answered the call on Farris Circle. The pair spoke with the homeowner who stated that her son, Bobby Wayne Baird, brought them to her home two to three days ago, according to a report from the sheriff’s department.

While Surber was returning the stolen property to the victim, Lt. Travis Bostic found Baird on Old Middlesboro Highway. Baird allegedly stated that he took his father’s truck to the location of the trailer and hook to it and took it back to his home.

Baird, 28, 101 Old Vasper Road, Caryville was charged with theft of property $2,500- $9,999. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 08/09/2021-6AM)
