Steve Zecchini was indicted for second degree murder in the April shooting death of Brenda Gail Booth.

He appeared in Campbell County Criminal Court Monday morning and had an attorney appointed to represent him. Zecchini entered a not guilty plea through his lawyer.

Last month, a Campbell County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Zecchini not only with second degree murder but tampering with evidence as well as being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Campbell County Sheriff’s Officers along Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agents investigated the crime that occurred in the 200 block of Brick Plant Lane in Newcomb. When authorities responded to the call they found Booth dead inside a camper, according to police.

The investigation led authorities to charge Zecchini in Booth’s death.

He remains in custody and is now scheduled for arraignment in criminal court on September 13. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 8/02/2021-1PM)
