CLAIRFIELD, TN (WLAF) – Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy Christopher West recently saw a 2013 white Toyota fail to obey a traffic device. When West saw this and began to follow behind the vehicle for a short distance, initiating lights and sirens. The driver of the Toyota continued to drive for about three-tenths of a mile before turning onto Log Mountain Rd and then onto Y Hollow Rd driving about 100 yards before coming to a stop.

When the vehicle stopped, West exited the cruiser and commanded the driver of the Toyota to get out of the vehicle. The driver exited the vehicle and identified himself as Brian Bolton, according to a report from the sheriffs department. While West was talking to Bolton he noticed that he had slurred speech, drooping eye lids, was sweating profusely and appeared to be confused.

Bolton was placed in the back of West’s patrol car to be transported to the jail. While enroute to Jacksboro, Bolton fell asleep and slept for the duration of the trip. Once inside the Campbell County Jail, Bolton was seated on a chair where he slumped over and fell back asleep based on West’s report.
