Brian Leach with La Follette Public Works and Ronnie Lee (right) with TDOT were quick to respond to the sink hole on Sunday morning soon after Casey Boshears, Director of La Follette Public Works, reported the hole at 10:35am.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – “The right lane will be shutdown through the night,” said La Follette Public Works Director Casey Boshears. The eastbound lane of East Central Avenue/Highway 63 across from the post office was shutdown in the 10am hour Sunday morning.

A sinkhole developed stretching under much of the lane, and Boshears has funneled traffic down to one lane around the hole. “TDOT has someone staying with the sink hole to monitor the hole to make sure it doesn’t fall out over into the left lane,” added Boshears.

The sink hole is about the diameter of a five-gallon bucket. However, it is several feet deep and runs to the white line.

TDOT will start repairing the road first thing Monday morning. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 08/01/2021-6PM)
