Mary Jo (Cox) Rowe, age 78, of the Kensee Hollow Community of Whitley County, Kentucky passed away Monday evening, July 19, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her family.

Mary was born on January 14, 1943 to the late David Cox and Evelyn (Sharp) Cox in Kensee, KY.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Tony Rowe.

She is survived by her husband, Roy Rowe, of Kensee, KY; five sons, Teddy Rowe, and wife, Sue, Dewayne Rowe, and wife, Donna, Billy Rowe, and wife, Edna, all of Kensee, KY, Roger Rowe, and wife, Beth, of the Buck Creek Community of Whitley County, KY, and Kenny Rowe, and wife, Kathy, of Kensee, KY; 19 grandchildren, James Rowe, Heather Rowe, Havin Rowe, Kennison Rowe, Mercedes Rowe, Dewayne Rowe, Jr. and wife, Amanda, Dustin Rowe, Tarsha Rowe, Billy Rowe, Jr., Donovan Rowe, Peyton Rowe, John Riley Rowe, Aaron Luke Rowe, Kenny Rowe, Luther Rowe, Katie Rowe, Shawn Rowe, and wife Ashlee, Jake Rowe, and Kendra Rowe.  She is also survived by 23great-grandchildren, Tandon, Brantley, Grant, Kory, Jace, Amelia, Ember ,Archer, Aubre, Madilyn, Millie, Marlee Jo, Raiden, Ryklen, Reilan, Camilla, Kennison, Charley, Caroline, Skyler, Cash, Kaylee, and Kloe; sister, Evelyn Cheek, of Williamsburg, KY; numerous nephews and nieces; special life-long friends, Al and Jean Pilot, of Creed, Colorado; and a host of other relatives, friends, and neighbors to mourn her passing.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday evening, July 22, 2021 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Cox & Son Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services will follow on Friday afternoon, July 23, 2021 at 2:00p.m. at the Cox & Son Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Sam Walden, Rev. Lesley Kidd, and Rev. Tony Head officiating.

Interment will immediately follow in the Kensee Cemetery.

Cox & Son Funeral Home of Jellico is in charge of all arrangements.

  1. Sorry to hear this. Mary Jo was a great aunt to me and I loved talking to her as a child. Prayers to uncle Roy, the kids and grandchildren.
