JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – The Campbell County Cougars opened preseason camp on Monday morning as the countdown to the season opener at Chattanooga Central is underway. One month from today, the Cougars will take on the Purple Pounders as the teams meet for the very first time.

“Yes, it’s here, and we’re excited to get started,” said 11th year head coach Justin Price. Price becomes the longest tenured head coach in CCHS history with the start of this season.

Les Martin returns for his 11th season behind the mic broadcasting Campbell Football. He’ll be joined by his long time color announcer Brent Allen.

Today is another day of helmets and shorts while the last three days of the week allow the players to suit up in shoulder pads and helmets during acclamation week. The first full week of pads starts next Monday.

Campbell has its first scrimmage scheduled for Thursday, July 29th at Webb. The Cougars are home with a scrimmage on their new turf on Friday, August 6th when the Knoxville .Bobcats visit. The Jamboree is Friday, August 13, at Neyland Stadium with the season opener at Chattanooga Central on Fri., August 20.
