Freshman Landen Hensley fires a pass during Thursday’s home 7-on-7 match up with Oneida.

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – As construction was going on to build a new football field for the Campbell County Cougars, the Cougars were playing in a 7-on-7 contest with Oneida down below on the practice field on Thursday morning.

Cougar Coach Matt Price had just called the play as the Cougars break from the huddle.

“We were able to get quality reps against Oneida. It gave us an opportunity to improve our passing game and pass defense,” said Campbell Head Coach Justin Price.

The 7-on-7 was scheduled on very short notice, and as a result, returning veteran quarterback Hunter White was out of town and did not play. Former Jacksboro Eagle Landen Hensley, a freshman, played quarterback.

Cougar star running back C.J. Allen, a senior, visits with CCHS Trainer Karen Morton during Thursday’s 7-on-7. Allen escaped injury in a recent car wreck. He said he was no more sore the next morning following the accident than he generally is after a game.

Campbell opens its 2021 season on Friday, August 20, at Chattanooga against first-time opponent Central. As always, the WLAF – Doyle’s Tire Shop Sports Network will provide the live radio, television and internet coverage of Campbell and the Purple Pounders. Veteran broadcasters Les Martin and Brent Allen will again describe all the action. WLAF has broadcast all the Cougar games since CCHS opened in 1975. See the full schedule HERE.
