CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF) – A Knoxville (correction: Philadelphia, Tennessee) man remains housed in the Campbell County Jail this morning after an eventful Saturday night on Interstate 75.

Reports coming in to WLAF are that 71-year- old Richard Lewis was injured when he was allegedly driving north in the south lanes of I-75 soon after 10pm June 12. According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Lewis’ Honda CRV hit a Ford F-150 pick-up truck, that was traveling correctly, south in the south lane. Lewis allegedly kept driving after the collision until his car stalled out in the roadway near Mile Marker 133.

Lewis was charged with DUI (driving under the influence), the open container law, failure to maintain lane, possession of a hand gun under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident, according to jail records. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 06/14/2021-6AM)
