A truck driver is alive this morning after quick action when his cab caught fire.

CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF) – The driver of a parked 18-wheeler was sound asleep early Sunday morning when he felt like his arm was burning according to First Responders. “He barely got out alive, and ended up not being injured,” said Caryville Fire Chief Eddie Hatmaker.

At 2:30am, at the old Pilot Truck Stop at Exit 141 on I-75, is when the cab of the big rig caught fire. The trailer, full of popsicle sticks, was saved.

Firefighters were working in tight quarters with other tractor-trailers parked nearby for the night.

The Caryville Fire Department was assisted by Jacksboro and La Follette Fire Departments in battling the blaze. Caryville Police and the Campbell County EMA responded along with Reeds Wrecker Service. Reeds was in charge of the clean-up and the tow.

The trailer full of popsicle sticks was saved.
