Claude E. “Pap” Wilson, age 91 years, 11 months, and 4 days of LaFollette, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 13, 2021. He was born on June 9, 1929 in Jacksboro to the late Estel E. and Hannah (Boshears) Wilson. Claude was a United States Air Force Veteran, who served his country proudly in the Korean War. He was a member of Cumberland View Baptist Church and Campbell County Masonic Lodge #778 F&AM. Claude enjoyed Tennessee Football, Basketball, Lady Vols Basketball, playing golf, fishing, riding horses, working at the funeral home, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was the President of the LaFollette Little League when they won the state championship in 1965. Claude started working for Martin’s Funeral Home in 1962 and became a licensed funeral director in 1964. Over his 59 years in the funeral profession, he has served more than 9,000 families in their time of grief. In the late 1990’s, Claude got his last name added to Martin Funeral Home, when it became Martin-Wilson Funeral Home. His passion, love, and respect for the families he served never went unnoticed nor forgotten. Claude would always tell the employees to never make a short cut and go the full mile in helping families.

In addition to his parents, he was reunited with his wife, Carol Ann Wilson; sons, Steve and Kelly Wilson; brother, Carl Wilson; sister, Wanda (Wilson) Kitts; daughter in law, Marsha Wilson.

Claude is survived by his son, Danny Wilson of LaFollette, grandchildren, Adam Wilson, Curtis Wilson and wife, Brandy, April C. Diaz and husband, Daniel, Brian Wilson and wife, Crystal, Andy Wilson and wife, Ashley, and Christian Wilson; great grandchildren, Mason, Thomas, Jenna, Liam, Knox, Addison, Amelia, Turner, Coby, and Gracie Lynn; brothers, Ernest Wilson of Jacksboro, George Wilson of Spring City, Lendon Wilson and wife, Susie of Jacksboro; sisters, Thelma Daugherty of Jacksboro, Maxine Albertini of Union, Ohio, Fleda Adkins of Jacksboro, Pat Hembree and husband, Herbert of Jacksboro, Peggy Hungerford of Springfield, Missouri; his loving and caring family at Martin Wilson Funeral Home; and several nieces, nephews, and host of other relatives and thousands of friends that will miss him dearly.

Visitation for Claude will be Monday, May 17, 2021 in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home from 4:00 to 7:45 PM with a masonic service by the Campbell County Masonic Lodge #778 F&AM at 7:45 PM. Claudes funeral service will begin at 8:00 PM with Rev. Bobby Ray Wilson and Rev. Hobert McCreary officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at Martin Wilson Funeral Home to go in funeral procession to Willoughby Cemetery in Jacksboro for 11:00 AM interment with Rev. Jimmy Ault officiating and military honors being presented by the Campbell County Honor Guard.
