Kenneth Smiley Miller, age 86, of LaFollette was born on December 4, 1934 and passed away on Wednesday, May 12, 2021. He retired after 31 years of service in the Campbell County Schools System as a teacher, basketball coach, principal at Stony Fork School and East LaFollette Elementary School, and superintendent of schools. He was a life long member of the LaFollette Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School for many years including the Men’s class and the Joy class. Smiley, as he was known to many, enjoyed his farm in the Davis Chapel Community. Preceded in death by wives: Velma Goins Miller and Barbara Nelson Miller, parents: Walter Miller and Helen St. John Miller, Sisters: Lucille Ivey, Gladys Dossett, and Violet Bales, brothers: Virgil St. John, Ernest Miller, Leland Miller, Walter “Sam” Miller, infant Rector Miller and Gene Miller, close family friend: Ruth Sharp Davis Quirk

Family will receive friends 1-3 PM Sunday at LaFollette United Methodist Church with a Celebration of Life to follow at 3 PM LaFollette United Methodist Church. Dr. Chris Stanfield officiating, with interment to follow at Sunrise Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be given to the Campbell County Imagination Library an affiliate of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library in memory of Kenneth Smiley Miller. Donations provide free, age-appropriate books mailed to a child’s home each month for children newborn to age five in Campbell County, memorials may be mailed to Community Health of East Tennessee, Campbell County Imagination Library, P.O.   1. So sorry to hear of Mr. Miller’s passing. He was my teacher at LaFollette High School, ’59-60 school year.
    May God bless and comfort his family.

  2. He was a wonderful teacher and taught me some life lessons at LaFollette Jr. high. . 1969 to 1972
