CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF) – The Town of Caryville could soon have two new businesses at Exit 141; one at the exit and another in the industrial park. Mayor Robert Stooksbury did not disclose what the businesses are but said he would save the official announcement for them.

Resolution 2021-05 Annual Operating Budget for the fiscal year 2021-22 had a first reading, and the budget includes new equipment for the town and increasing the town’s rainy day fund by $50,000. The board approved form CT-0253. Stooksbury explained this was paperwork requested by the comptroller for the loan on a boom mower.

Lions Club member Brandon Johnson spoke briefly about the potential of grant dollars from the Lions Club. The grant would be used to build an all inclusive playground. The town would need to identify donors who would donate to the project before applying for the grant. The board requested Johnson come back next month to continue the discussion. The potential site for the playground is the old Caryville school playground near Scotty’s. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 05/11/2021-6AM)
