CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF) – After 10 pm on Sunday, May 2, Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy Cody Douglas was assisting the Caryville Police Department who had been dispatched to the Super 8 Motel about a possible stolen vehicle parked in the parking lot.

During the investigation, Caryville Police confirmed the 2020 Ford F-150 pick-up truck was stolen and Douglas made contact with a male who was passed out asleep in the driver’s seat.

The man, identified as Michael Lee Jones, told Douglas he had been staying at the Super 8 Motel and had driven the truck to the motel. He continued he had been cleaning the truck out. Jones alleged that he was contacted on April 30 by a female who requested he and another individual pick her up at the hospital and help her find her truck. She told him that the truck was in someone’s driveway on Coolidge Rd. After locating the truck, the woman then asked him to take the truck to another person whom she was afraid of that lived on South Sudenny Rd.

The following day, Jones drove to the South Sudenny Rd address but was unable to locate the person. Jones reported he had attempted to contact the woman throughout the day and following day but was unable to make contact. After being unable to reach the woman, Jones drove to the Super 8 Motel and parked the pick-up where he had been staying.

Jones, 46, 184 Joy Lane, Jacksboro is charged with theft of property $10,000-59,999 and violation of probation out of General Sessions Court. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 05/10/2021-6AM).
