JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Friday, May 7, is National School Lunch Hero Day; a day to show some appreciation and love for your school lunch room staff.

According to Campbell County School nutrition director Vicki Woodard, “It’s a day to recognize the importance of cafeteria staff and to show them how vital they are to our students and our school system.”

These employees feed the students of Campbell County and are an essential part of learning, according to Woodard.

“They are heroes, because they feed children, which is a vital part of the learning process; we just want to recognize those folks and show them we appreciate them,” Woodard said.

Early Friday morning, members from the Campbell County Central office nutrition department will go to the various schools in the county to present certificates of appreciation for school lunch staff.

According to Woodard, they will still be feeding kids through the summer by way of summer camps and the Twigloo Nutrition Truck. The schedule will be published on WLAF’S website and announced over WLAF Radio, AM 1450 and FM 100.9.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 05/06/2021-6AM)
