LAFOLLETTE, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – The Campbell County Children’s Center in collaboration with District Attorney General Jared Effler of the 8th Judicial District would like to thank the City of LaFollette and Indian Mountain State Park as well as the local communities for supporting our first annual “Taking Steps to Prevent Child Abuse” 1K Walk/Run.

The event was held on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, which coincided with National Crime Victims’ Rights Week 2021. “This was a time to focus on ways not only to protect children but also to prevent abuse from every occurring,” commented Tracie Davis, CEO, Campbell County Children’s Center. “We are so grateful for the community support. The Children’s Center is proud to have joined forces with the DA’s office to raise awareness for victims across the counties this week,” said Davis.

We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the sponsors of this year’s event:

The Campbell County Children’s Center was established in 2001 and later expanded to include two satellite offices in Claiborne and Union County. The mission of all three offices is to provide a safe haven for sexually and physically abused children. Instead of being interviewed countless times at different locations, a child can tell their story to one caring and specially trained professional in a child-friendly environment where the child knows he or she will be safe.
