What road crews faced on Whistle Creek Road on Sunday.

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – From Whistle Creek Mountain to Demory and Stinking Creek to Long Hollow, weekend rain left damage in its wake all across Campbell County.

Late Sunday afternoon at Whistle Creek, one crew, including Campbell County Road Superintendent Ron Dilbeck, was working to help about 10 stranded homeowners. “They can’t get off the mountain, because of a major slide and four or five washed out culverts,” said Dilbeck.

A common scene around Campbell County.

Most storm damage is generally isolated. However in this case, damage was sustained county-wide. “This was the worst in a while. You can pick any road, and there’s work to be done,” added Dilbeck.

Through the day Sunday, county highway department trucks could be seen around the county hauling huge rock, culverts and other supplies needed to shore up damaged roads.
