LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – The lid to the garbage can may be down the street and the yard may be soggy with a few scattered tree limbs around, but all-in-all, Campbell County dodged the big weather bullet that had us in its bullseye on Thursday night.

Reports coming in to WLAF are that there were some trees down around Highway 297 in Elk Valley late Thursday night. The Campbell County Highway Department was quick to clear those trees. No injuries were reported. However, there have been a few spotty power outages as strong wind gusts continue for a few more hours.

Another round of storms is on the way this weekend. There could be some strong to possibly severe storms on and near Campbell County and the Cumberland Plateau late Saturday night and then spreading across the rest of east Tennessee, southwest Virginia and southwest North Carolina during the morning and afternoon Sunday. The primary threat will be damaging winds. There will also be the potential for heavy rainfall late Saturday night and Sunday. This could cause some isolated flooding problems Saturday night into Sunday morning. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 03/26/2021-6AM)
