LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – The LaFollette Regional Planning Commission held its monthly meeting last night at city hall.

Many have seen the influx of food trucks throughout the county. There have been numerous calls and complaints within the LaFollette city limits about them.

Some of the trucks are not acquiring the proper permits needed to set up and are simply bouncing around from parking lot to parking lot. The planning commission is concerned that these trucks could be hurting local merchants and without the proper permit it is not known if they are licensed to serve food. However, the commission does not want to hinder the food trucks either. Ideas, such as a food truck festival like Knoxville has, were tossed around but no definite decisions were made. Though all agreed that the codes on food trucks needed to be better enforced.

Lastly, a preliminary commercial site plan review was presented to the council. Alex Jacome, a former California resident, is looking to purchase the Del Rio Trailer Park on North Massachusetts Avenue near La Follette Court Assisted Living. He hopes to improve the property by building permanent structures and removing the single wide mobile homes. No plans are set in stone as Jacome has not officially bought the property. If the purchase goes through, Jacome will readdress the planning commission with multiple site plans. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 03/26/2021-6AM)

  1. All Food Trucks should have to show the City in which they are going to Operate proof of Health Inspection, Proof Of Liability Insurance and purchase the required permit from the city. Food trucks coming in from out of town do take away from local businesses.
