LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – A 59-year- old La Follette man is safe and uninjured after being lost for more than two hours in a cave near Norris Lake.

The La Follette Rescue Squad was called out Sunday around 8:30 pm after a man was reported lost in a cave. “He became separated from his party, but they made it on out of the cave. It took us just a few minutes to find him,” said Chief Charles Hutson with the La Follette Rescue Squad.

The chief described the search as a “simple walk-in with a rope.” Hutson adds that there is about a 45-degree angle down into the cave, and that the rope was needed because it was slippery.

The cave is located on a hill behind the Cedar Creek Baptist Church. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 03/23/2021-6AM)
