DUFF, TN (WLAF) – On Tuesday, March 9, Deputy Christopher West was patrolling Highway 90 in Duff when he saw a blue Ford Mustang being driven by who he thought was Donald Ridenour. West had prior experiences with Ridenour and knew his license was revoked.

He attempted to perform a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the driver was traveling at such a high rate of speed, it took West approximately half a mile to catch the Mustang. The vehicle pulled into a driveway on Monday Hollow Road, the car was put in park and both doors opened as two white males exited the vehicle. At this point, West identified the driver as Ridenour who attempted to cover his face and move towards the front of the Mustang, according to a report from the sheriff’s department. West immediately said “Donald, stop,” but Ridenour attempted to evade West on foot. West ran after Ridenour for approximately 200-300 yards while commanding him to stop before he stopped.

While West chased Ridenour, the other male, Matthew Hightower, started walking quickly toward Highway 90. A nearby neighbor spotted Hightower walking through her yard and into the woods. Sgt. Joe Hopson found Hightower inside a culvert about a half mile west of Monday Hollow Road.

Donald Anthony Ridenour, 34, 4668 South Hwy 25W, LaFollette is charged with evading arrest, resist stop frisk halt search, mfg/del/sell controlled substance, driving under influence (5th offense), violation implied consent law, felony evading arrest, reckless driving, failure to obey a police officer, destruction of evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia.
