LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – A BOLO (be on the lookout for) ended in an arrest last Friday evening. Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy Zachary Daugherty received a call about a black Ford Mustang that had allegedly been stolen by Gary David Downing from the 167 Beals Lane area in LaFollette .

Daugherty advised LaFollette Police about the BOLO on the vehicle. In the meantime, Daugherty searched the Glade Springs area and could not find the car. While the deputy was searching, he was notified by dispatch that LPD officers had stopped the Mustang at the Red Roof Market in LaFollette, according to a report from the sheriff’s department.

When Daugherty arrived at the market at the corner of Central and Indiana, he discovered Downing was driving the Ford Mustang LaFollette Police had pulled over.

Daugherty then called the victim who stated that he had been staying with Downing for almost a week and that during the morning hours of March 6 Downing had taken his Mustang without his knowledge. The victim stated he had attempted to file a report but was unsuccessful since he did not have any of the pertinent information on the car. He continued that he had no other options than to wait on Downing to bring his car back.

On Friday evening, the victim heard his Mustang coming up the road, ran outside, saw his car and identified Downing as the driver. Downing continued up Glade Springs Road, and the victim called dispatch who sent Daugherty to the area.
