CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF) – It’s not every day you come across a man laying in a ditch. But Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy Zachary Daugherty did.

It was just after 8 am on Saturday when the deputy found Jonathan Tyler Duncan laying in a ditch along side Cherry Bottom Road. Duncan told Daugherty that he was collecting arrow heads based on the report. Daugherty ordered Duncan in front of his patrol car to keep him safe as traffic passed.

The deputy performed a Terry frisk for weapons but only came up with rocks out of Duncan’s pockets. Duncan, 26, of Parrott Lane, Caryville, was allegedly unsteady on his feet, had slow speech and pin point pupils consistent with signs of narcotics use according to the report.

Duncan allegedly admitted he had a prescription for Alprazolam. The medication is commonly used to treat anxiety and panic disorders. He went on to allegedly tell Daugherty he’d drunk alcohol with his prescription the day before.

Daugherty placed Duncan under arrest and charged him with PI (public intoxication).

Duncan is due in court on April 27. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 03/16/2021-6AM)
