LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – East La Follette Baptist Church Pastor Zach Lloyd is not going to let a five month battle with COVID-19, what it left in its wake and a double lung transplant stand in the way of honoring his commitments.

Lloyd spent his 38th birthday at Vanderbilt Medical Center on Jan. 9, and he’ll still be at Nashville when wife Sara’s birthday rolls around on April 29. However, there are still two other birthdays and a wedding that are serving as goals for the recovering Lloyd.

“I’ve gotta be back for my daughter’s birthday. Lily turns 11 on July 6, and I told her I’ll be home for the celebration,” Lloyd said. His other child, son Titus, has a birthday on Aug. 27; he will turn 7.

And about that wedding. Bride to be Lindsey Hutson has sent her pastor a few messages over these past five months reminding him of her Sept. 4 ceremony.

“He’d better be back even if I have to wheel him down the aisle. He’s the only one I want to do the honors,” Hutson said as she laughed. Dalton Suttles is the lucky young man.

After what the pastor has been through, making the birthdays and wedding will be like a walk in the park.
