JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – A Campbell County man is dead this morning as the result of a pellet gun shot to the throat, according to a source close to the investigation.

WLAF News has learned that a woman, living in a camper on Norris Lake, at Murrayville Road saw the man in a kayak when it overturned in the lake. She assisted the man who later came to her camper.

The source said after a couple of hours, the man reportedly began behaving erratically by hitting and throwing things, and the woman allegedly shot him with a pellet gun a couple of times.

A while later, the man began hitting the woman, according to the source. She again allegedly shot him with the pellet gun. This time, the pellet went through the man’s throat killing him. Reports are the man died at the scene.

The Campbell County Sheriff’s Department is being assisted by the TBI in the investigation. The call came in to E-911 Central Dispatch at 5:20 pm Sunday afternoon.

No arrests have been made. There is no word if charges will be filed.
