JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Jacksboro Police arrested four people on Wednesday on shoplifting and theft charges related to multiple thefts from Walmart. 

According to arrest reports, Robert Brandon Phillips and Deshon Logan Sexton were arrested on larceny/theft shoplifting charges. Sexton was also charged with theft of property $1,000-$10,000, while Phillips was charged with conspiracy to commit theft of property $1,000-$10,000. 

Jacksboro Police were dispatched to Walmart on the report of a theft. Upon arrival, officers spoke with Walmart’s loss prevention officer who stated he had witnessed Phillips and Sexton scan items at the self checkout line and then attempt to pay for items with a Walmart gift card with insufficient funds totaling $4.15. According to the report, they did not receive a receipt, and there was also still an item with security wrap around it. Both individuals proceeded past the point of sale with two shopping carts of unpaid-for merchandise.

Stolen merchandise included multiple clothing items, two chainsaws, extension cords, tools, an air compressor, a winch, a shark vacuum, two tubes of toothpaste, toothbrushes, makeup, tampons and several other hygienic items. According to the report, the total value of items was $1,828.83.

Jacksboro Officers viewed security footage that did show the two suspects skip scan items. After reviewing the security footage, both Sexton and Phillips were arrested and transported to the county jail. 

James Walker, 43, was arrested on larceny/theft/shoplifting offenses on Wednesday as well. According to the Jacksboro Police report, Walker’s offenses had occurred sometime between the dates of Jan. 28 and Feb. 15. The Jacksboro Police began investigating the case. During the course of the investigation, police learned that Walker was switching tags on items he was purchasing. According to the report, Walker had 16 transactions where he had switched price tags on items. Walker had paid a total of $64.70 for the items he had switched the price tags on, when in fact, those items were valued at $2,710.43. He was charged with theft of property $1,000-$10,000 and transported to the county jail. 

Jacksboro Police also arrested Aaron Crabtree, 38, on Wednesday on larceny/theft/ shoplifting offenses, as well as trespassing charges after he proceeded past the point of sale without paying for a ladder, a speaker and a vice. According to the police report, Crabtree was attempting to leave the parking lot when police were dispatched. JPD Chief Jeremy Goins initiated a traffic stop on Crabtree in the Jacksboro Middle School parking lot and located the stolen items from Walmart in his truck. The total value of merchandise stolen was $154.06. According to the police report, Crabtree had also been caught for theft and trespassing at Walmart on July 12, 2019.
