NASHVILLE, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – Snow and ice in Nashville and Middle Tennessee closed the Legislature this week.

State Representative Dennis Powers said, “This is the first time since I have been elected (2010) that we have been closed for an entire week due to weather. We have endured tornadoes and snow in the past, but the ice, cold temperatures and another front that moved in in the middle of the week brought more ice and has made traveling in Nashville and surrounding areas treacherous.”

Early in the week, there were two-inches of ice in the Nashville area and several inches of snow. Temperatures have failed to get out of the teens this week as more snow and ice moved into the mid-state.

Powers notes that the Legislature plans to re-open on the normal schedule beginning Monday. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 02/19/2021-10:30AM)
