LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Road crews, LUB crews and other agencies have been very busy for the past several hours. Pushing snow and restoring spotty power outages have been the order of the morning.

This latest blast of winter weather dropped a good one to two inches of snow in many parts of Campbell County with higher snow accumulation totals in the mountains. Rain that began around 2:30 am has turned snow to slush and has washed a lot of the snow away on many roads. Additionally, several trees have already been cleared from a couple of roads around the county.

City of La Follette Public Works Director Casey Boshears pushes snow before 4 am on Thursday morning in Downtown La Follette.

Ponding of water on roads, a slippery spot here or there (mainly on the bridges) and patchy dense fog are the main challenges on the front end of this Thursday. The threat of light freezing rain looms much of the morning, especially in the higher elevations of Campbell County, as temps hover near the freezing mark. Parking lots, driveways and sidewalks are going to be some of the most treacherous areas you’ll encounter this morning.

Road crews have been out all night and into Thursday morning clearing roads.

Expect a rainy, foggy day with temperatures struggling to reach 40-degrees. The light freezing rain threat runs through lunch time for primarily the mountains of Campbell County. Troubles return tonight with lows in the mid-20s and the refreeze threat looming along with a chance of rain, snow and sleet. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 02/18/2021-6AM)
