JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – A career performance from Campbell’s John John Long and a sterling effort from Devin Jones were not enough to push the Cougars over the top with Scott on Homecoming Night at Brown Gym.
Long was a warrior up front for Campbell Thursday night with 22 points and 14 rebounds while his sophomore running mate Jones poured through 21 markers. Despite those numbers and 15 points from Nate Walden and six from Seth Ward, Scott squeezed out a 70 to 66 win.
Scott kept the Lady Cougars at bay in the closing seconds to leave town with a 44 to 42 win. Kayleigh Jordan rifled through 17 points with Alyssa Brown chalking up 14. Izzy Proffit had seven on the night as Bailey Gillum chipped in four.
Thursday night marked the end of the regular season, and the Lady Cougars are 9 & 13 in all contests and sport a final district record of 7 & 7. The Cougars record is 10 & 10, and its complete district mark is 7 & 7.
The seeding for the district tournament continues to fall into place though not yet finalized. However, both the Lady Cougars and Cougars will host first round district tournament games next week with dates and opponents still not determined.
