NASHVILLE, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – Due to COVID-19 restrictions, some veteran members of the state legislature have been asked to serve as Chaplain of the Day in the Legislature by opening with a Bible story and prayer. State Representative Dennis Power is among those legislatures to have served as Chaplain of the Day.

State Rep. Dennis Powers used the story of Esther and, although she was Jewish, her rise to become the Queen of Persia.  Her Uncle Mordecai was promoted to a high position after alerting of an attack on the King.  After Haymen plotted with the King to kill all the Jews, Esther was asked by Mordecai to request that the King not kill the Jews.  She was afraid to make the request because she thought the King would kill her.  Mordecai reminded her that she would be killed either way. He said, “maybe, you were put in this position for such a time as this.”

Powers used that analogy to remind all of his colleagues that “maybe, we were put in our position for such a time as this.” (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 02/11/2021-6AM)
