LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – If you’ve ever heard the radio commercial for Wilson Gas on WLAF, you’ve heard Chloe Wilson tell everyone that her daddy Lance “has gas.”

One of the reasons the likeable Wilson has so many customers, especially on a cold day like Monday or today, is because he does have gas.

Andrea Haas (left) and Roy Malicote (right) brave the cold for Lance Wilson (middle) to fill up their propane tanks.

The line of customers was growing not long after Wilson opened on Monday morning. Andrea Haas of Stinking Creek was among the many and calls Wilson “an awesome and most respectable guy, and he’s so pleasant.”

Customer Ray Malicote of Habersham told Haas “let’s don’t give him the big head.” Ray and Andrea, like most of Wilson’s customers, are known by their first names at Wilson Gas.

Wilson Gas is open Tuesday through Saturday and is open on Mondays during the winter.

Wilson’s work load doesn’t see much let up. Temperatures moderate for a few days, and come Sunday, a blast of cold artic air arrives in Campbell County. Sunday’s high struggles to 32-degrees ahead of a Sunday night low of nine above.

The locally owned and operated propane distributor is on Ridenour Lane in La Follette. As the late Digger Wilson, founder of Wilson Gas, would say “500 yards behind the Peoples Bank Mall Branch.” (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 02/02/2021-6AM)
