ONEIDA, TN (WLAF) – The Campbell County Cougars and Lady Cougars lost Friday night to Oak Ridge on Prudden Court. Both teams are wasting little time returning to action; the Cougars Saturday and the Lady Cougars tonight.

The Lady Wildcats defeated Campbell 60 to 26 while, though the Cougars hung tough for three quarters, Oak Ridge won 87 to 48. Both Oak Ridge teams ran the district table finishing 14 & 0 all the while securing the regular season district championships.

A win can cure a lot of ills for a basketball team. After a tough Friday night loss to perennial state power Oak Ridge, the Cougars chalked up a win less than 24-hours later.

Saturday afternoon at Oneida, the Cougars spotted the Indians a 5-0 lead and then stormed past the team that was in the state tourney a year ago and will likely be there again this season. Oneida, 28 & 7 in 2019-2020, was blitzed by the Cougars 68 to 52 in a game that was never close after the first quarter.

Nate Walden led the way with 19 points while three Cougars scored eight points each; Bryson Horton, Devin Jones and Seth Ward. Noah Burden finished with seven as John John Long and Spencer Boshears tallied six points a piece. Garrett Medley chipped in two.

Oneida falls to 16 & 3 as the regular season winds down this week. In District 3-A, the Indians are 14 & 0.

The Lady Cougars are 8 & 11 in all contests and sport a 6 & 7 district record. The Cougars record is 10 & 8, and in the district, it is 7 & 7.

The Lady Cougars host Clinton in a district make-up game Monday night at 6:30 pm on Brown Court. Watch all the live coverage right here over the WLAF – Doyle’s Tire Shop Sports Network.
