MORRISTOWN, TN (WLAF) – It’s been quite a wait, and former Campbell County Lady Cougar Haley Comer is anxious for her season to begin later today at Buda Gym. The sophomore will don her Number 32 jersey for the Walters State Lady Senators for a second season.

She was a part of history last season playing in a game in January that was the 1,000 win for Coach Dave Kragel. That’s all history now as Kragel retired, and State has a new interim head coach, Jasmin Coleman. Coleman is familiar to Comer, because she’s been a Lady Senator assistant for the past ten seasons.

“It’s been a process not being able to start yet. However, practicing every single day has made my team and me ready to begin what needs to be done for this season,” said Comer.

Walters State begins its run for its ninth straight TCCAA title this afternoon at Buda Gym. The Tigers from Chattanooga State Community College and the Lady Senators tip at 5:30 pm.

Comer appeared in 30 games last season; starting in most. She averaged 6 points per game and four rebounds. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 01/27/2021-6AM)
