LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – It wasn’t happy hour for two drivers at Sonic. Just after 2 pm Tuesday, two cars collided in the restaurant’s drive- thru, according to the accident report from the La Follette Police Department.

Don Farmer, La Follette, told police he accidently stepped on the gas in the 2004 BMW he was driving and struck another car that was in the drive-thru line at the Sonic Drive-In, according to LPD Officer Timothy Collingsworth’s report. Farmer said he then turned off to the right and hit a wooden fence/gate belonging to the Sonic. Farmer was not injured.

LPD Officers Timothy Collingsworth (left) and Aaron Adkins investigated the accident.

The car that took the hit from the BMW was a 2009 Nissan Versa driven by Kathy Franklin of Jacksboro. The BMW allegedly collided into the back of the Nissan injuring Franklin. Collingsworth said Franklin told him she had previous back issues and that her back was hurting after the crash.

Franklin was transported to the La Follette Medical Center by the Campbell County EMS. One family member told WLAF News that Franklin also suffered from a bump to her head.

There was no other passengers in either of the cars involved. The BMW had to be towed. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 01/14/2021-2PM)
