CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF) – A call about a man carrying a rifle in a wooded area off Parrot Lane prompted Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy Justin Phillips to respond. That was just before 9 am on Wed., Jan. 6.

As Phillips was enroute to the call, he encountered three men walking at the intersection of Cherry Bottom Road and Parrott Lane.  The men pointed out another man identified as Johnathan Tyler Duncan, walking down the road, and told Phillips Duncan was the one who had the shotgun, according to a report from the sheriff’s department.

Duncan allegedly told the officer he was walking to his friend’s house. When Duncan opened his wallet to get out his identification card, Phillips allegedly saw a clear plastic bag containing three whole green pills and two halves of a broken green pill. A green leafy like substance believed to be marijuana was among the pills. The report said Duncan also had brass knuckles, scales, and more green leafy substance in his pockets.

Duncan, 26, 155 Parrott Lane, Caryville is charged with possession of schedule III-controlled substance, possession of schedule IV-controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of prohibited weapons.

This was the seventh arrest for the unemployed man based on jail records. Duncan is free this morning on a $10,000 bond and has a court date of March 9. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 01/14/2021-6AM)
