Mr. James Ray “Jim” Lane, age 80 of LaFollette passed away peacefully Friday, December 25, 2020.  He was a member and Deacon of Cedar Hill Baptist Church.  He retired after 33 years as the Assistant Superintendent of the Vocational Technical School at Jacksboro, now known as TCAT.  He enjoyed woodworking, baseball, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He once played baseball in a Wisconsin Farm League.  He also coached youth baseball which he greatly enjoyed.  He attended Berea College and University of Tennessee at Knoxville.  He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janet Stanley Lane, Son, James Michael Lane, Granddaughter, Emily Lane Monday, Parents, Albert Newton and Elsie Cleo McNew Lane, Sons-in-law, Kelvin Monday and Michael Lynn Terry, Brothers-in-Law and Sister-in-Law, Gerry Day, Charles Evans, Carroll Ray, and Patsy Stanley Baker.

He is survived by Daughters, Susan Lane Monday and Stacey Lane Terry; Grandchildren, Jacob Monday and wife, Katey, Kendall Monday, Colby, Gavin, Elliott, and Eli Terry; Great Grandchildren, Adileigh Grace and Malcolm Ray Monday and one on-the-way; Brothers and Sisters, Jesse Lane and wife, Donnie, Ruby Daniels and husband, Bob, Lillie Evans, Clyde Lane and wife, Brenda, Mary Lundstrum and husband, Cliff, Charlie Lane, Anne Farmer and husband Ken, Janice Hurst and husband, Roger, Jerry Lane, Tammy Buttery and husband, Ernie; Brother-in-Law and Sister-in-Law, Johnny and Kathryn Stanley.  Many Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Players, Coaches, Parents of his Baseball Teams, and Friends. 

Family and friends will meet Saturday, January 2, 2021, 12:30 P.M. at Walters Funeral Home and proceed to Fincastle Cemetery for a 1:00 P.M. Graveside Service with Rev. Roger Hurst officiating.  The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to Cedar Hill Deacon’s Benevolence Fund, 622 Demory Road, LaFollette, TN  37766.
