JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – A former police officer has pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and official oppression.

On Wednesday, Justin Crabtree agreed he was guilty of these crimes when his case was heard in the Eighth Judicial District Criminal Court via Zoom.

While he did plead guilty to assaulting Nathan Ling, Crabtree’s sentencing was postponed until Feb. 2021 to allow time for a presentencing report to be compiled.

A Campbell County Grand Jury previously indicted 24-year-old Crabtree for aggravated assault and official oppression. Crabtree, a deputy with the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office, was accused of assaulting Ling in June 2019. He was also accused of using excessive force on Ling, a Michigan resident, according to court records.
