LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – An accident in front of Food City left a Jacksboro man injured last Saturday.

According to a LaFollette police report, Jonathan Hopson,18, of LaFollette, was pulling out of the intersection at the Woodson Mall-Food City Center turning left towards Jacksboro in a Ford F-150, when he “accidentally struck” Anthony Kirby, 56, who was crossing the crosswalk from the Shell gas station to Food City in a motorized wheelchair. According to LPD Officer Isaiah Lawson, who responded to the scene, the extent of Kirby’s injuries was unknown, and he was transported to the LaFollette Medical Center and later to UT Medical Center.

According to Lawson, he could not determine either party was at fault, and no charges were filed. “It was raining and visibility was terrible that day,” Lawson said. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 12/17/2020-12:45PM)
