Rita Jewel Franklin (Starritt), age 70, of Caryville, TN, passed away on December 10, 2020.

Rita was a retired nurse from Dayton, OH, who was always there when you needed her. She had a generous and kind soul that left a mark on all our hearts. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, and an extremely loyal friend with a heart of gold. She will be missed by everyone that knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents James T. and Lois Starritt of LaFollette, TN, and her brother Ricky Starritt of Dayton, OH.

Rita is survived by her husband, Leonard Franklin Jr, of Caryville Tn; children Matthew Gross and Maria Lane (Gross) from Dayton, OH; stepchildren Heather (Franklin) Lowman and Charles Anthony Franklin of Clewiston, FL; grandchildren Christopher and wife Tiffany Hardin, Tyler and wife Lindsay Lane, Alexander and wife Aubrie Lane, and Jaidon Lane of Dayton, OH; one adorable great grandchild Gunner Hardin; brother James D. Starritt of Atlanta, GA; and numerous other family and friends.

Rita did not want any sad funeral or viewing, she just wanted to be remembered and loved the way she was. A celebration of life will be scheduled in the months to come when we all can get together safely.
