LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Reports of the earth shaking and windows rattling are coming in to WLAF this morning as well as to E-911 Dispatch.

Wayland Explosives is blasting out old railroad tracks according to E-911 Dispatch. Calls have been coming in from Grantsboro, Pleasant Ridge, Caryville Mountain, High Knob and up the valley of reports of rumbles in the ground, rattling windows and earthquake type feelings.   1. I also felt these rumbles out on Demory Rd. I know when it was happening I was thinking wow the rock quarry is really blasting big! So if it wasn’t the rock quarry blasting just what was it.

    1. We feel them and sometimes hear loud explosions out off Grantsboro quite often. Its never mentioned in the news, though. Once this spring we heard what sounded like timed explosions, one after another, probably 12 – 15 low frequency booms in the distance, one every 5 seconds or so right around nightfall.
