HABERSHAM, TN (WLAF) – Each week WLAF is featuring a local teacher or educator, and this week we honor Tammy Webb of Wynn School. She was nominated by a WLAF listener who called in her teacher of the week nomination.   (423.562.1450 or wlaf@1450wlaf.com)

Tammy Webb said it was her own teachers that inspired her to become a teacher herself and to teach in her home area.

Webb teaches Middle School Language Arts and has been in her profession for 18 years. She was raised in the Wynn area and attended kindergarten through 12th grade at Wynn School. She said it was her own teachers that inspired her to become a teacher herself and to teach in her home area. “I always loved to learn and to read and it was their encouragement that led me to teaching,” Webb said.

Her favorite part of teaching is building relationships in the classroom.

“Once you have built those relationships, the students are comfortable to raise their hand and venture an answer; they learn that making mistakes is part of learning. Taking that first step is an important part of the process; that’s when they learn it, that’s when the aha moments start to happen,” Webb said.

She said a positive that has come out of this year is how both teachers and students have “pulled together” and have adapted to make the best of the situation.

“We are all thankful to be here, the children themselves are much more positive.”Webb said she was thankful to be in her profession and that she had loved every bit of it over the last 18 years.

“I still love my job after all these years. It never gets old and I feel it’s a blessing to work with these young people. They are our future.” (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 11/19/2020-6AM)

  1. Tammy is so deserving of this honor. During her school years, she was an excellent student, a caring heart, accomplished athlete, dedicated to her Lord lived her faith daily. She’s a pretty good friend, too! 💖. I can’t think of anyone more deserving! And a great Mom!! Congratulations, Tammy.
