JELLICO, TN (WLAF) – Tragedy and heart wrenching sadness were the results from a fatal traffic accident on I-75 late Monday afternoon. The southbound side of the interstate at mile marker 150, 10 miles south of Jellico, was shutdown for more than three hours as responding agencies sorted through the wreckage.

In Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Trevor Nolan’s preliminary report, he said just after 5 pm 66-year- old Don Huffman, Oak Harbor, Ohio, was traveling in the right lane in his 2000 Chevrolet pick-up when he allegedly struck the back of an 18-wheeler. The impact sent Huffman’s Chevy into the left lane. That’s when a trailing 2019 Ford F-250 pick-up driven by Huffman’s sister, 68-year- old Dawn Huffman, Summerton, South Carolina, struck the driver’s side of Huffman’s Chevy.

Don Huffman, fatally injured, was alone in his truck. There were two passengers in Dawn Huffman’s truck with the driver of the tractor trailer being 45-year- old Joel McGilles of Memphis. None of them was injured. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 11/17/2020-10AM)
