Jacksboro Chief of Police Jeremy Goins cruiser took a head on hit Thursday morning.

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Jacksboro Chief of Police Jeremy Goins was involved in a head on collision Thursday morning.

Goins was parked where Don Nance’s Gulf once stood going over some paperwork just after 9 am. He said, “I looked up, because I was hearing an engine revving and saw that a vehicle was headed directly toward me.”

The air bag in Robert Blackwell’s van deployed upon impact.

Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Stephen Barclay writes in his report that 75-year old Robert Blackwell of Jacksboro was traveling south down the hill on Valley Street in his 2008 Chrysler Town and Country Van. Blackwell entered the intersection of Valley and Main Streets veering off the roadway striking Chief Goins cruiser head on pushing the 2018 Dodge Durango backwards according to the report.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts. Neither suffered non-life threatening injuries. The 36-year old Chief said, “Every air bag in my cruiser deployed, and it left me really sore.” The Dodge is likely totaled according to Goins. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 11/13/2020-4PM)
