JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – WLAF continues to honor area educators with a feature on Jacksboro Middle School teacher Tim Byrge.

Tim Byrge teaches 8th grade U.S. History at Jacksboro Middle School.

Byrge teaches eighth grade United States History at JMS. He has been an educator for 17 years, with one year as an assistant principal.

He said he loves being part of a child’s learning process and tries to make “teaching and learning fun, and memorable” for his students.”

“My favorite part is when a student can smile and make those personal connections. Then, years later students can still smile and remind you of those special moments that they experienced while in your class,” Byrge said.  He cited a recent example of seeing a former student as a pharmacist and being asked if he remembered them. “I shared with them how proud I was that they continued to strive to be the best. It is moments like this when you are quickly reminded how rewarding teaching can be.”

Jacksboro Middle School Teacher Tim Byrge is WLAF’S Teacher of the week. He is pictured here with his son Reid, who is in seventh grade.

He said that even though this year is very different due to the pandemic, “students have been awesome troopers while following all the safety protocols. The sense of having some normalcy has been exciting to the students.” (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 11/12/2020-6AM)
