NEWCOMB, TN. (WLAF)- On Friday, the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office executed a narcotics search warrant at the home of Derrick James Lay at 261 Newcomb School Rd. in Newcomb. The search warrant came after two month investigation in which investigators made multiple buys of schedule II controlled substances from the residence.

Derrick James Lay is due back in court on Thursday.

Investigators located multiple narcotics to including what was believed to be Heroin, along with Methamphetamine and Opana. Along with this they allegedly found drug paraphernalia, multiple rifles, handguns, and cash during the search of the residence.

Lay was arrested and faces multiple charges including possession of schedule I controlled substance for resale, two counts of possession of schedule II controlled substances for resale, felony possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful possession of a weapon (convicted felon in possession of a firearm), and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Lay is still facing indictments related to the sale and delivery of schedule II controlled substances from the undercover buys.

The 39-year old Lay is free on an $85,000 secured bond and is due in General Sessions Court on Thursday.  WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED -11/3/2020- 6AM)
