Voters will have until 8 pm to cast their ballots in an election that has already seen a record turnout.  When early voting closed on Thursday, 8,499 Campbell Countians had voted early.  See the full ballot HERE.

That number is up significantly from the 6,442 that voted early in the last presidential election, according to Ann Ayers- Colvin, registrar of elections.

She hopes to see a strong turnout at the polls on Tuesday.

When voting, people are asked to wear a mask.  Gloves will be provided at the polls, she said.  Those working the polls will be outfitted in PPE as well.

Voters are asked to bring a photo ID.  In the event, someone has moved since last voting, Ayers- Colvin encourages them to change their address before arriving at the polls in order to save time.  Voters have until the close of business today to change their address at the election commission.

To help the lines move as quickly as they did in early voting, the polls will be staffed with around 130 poll workers across the county.  Most of these people worked during early voting so they are familiar with the enhanced safety protocols, said Ayers- Colvin.

Starting Tuesday night at 8 pm, WLAF will broadcast results over AM 1450, FM 100.9, WLAF-TV 12, www.1450wlaf.com, Facebook and YouTube.  In addition, there will be interviews with candidates and election commission staff.   WLAF is asking candidates to call in as COVID-19 safety protocols will be followed throughout the evening.  The interview line is 423.562.1450.
