LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – A Lexus SUV that kept crossing the fog line while heading east into La Follette caught the eye of two Campbell County Sheriff’s Officers.  The pair noticed 36-year- old Barry Wallace cross the fog line three times over a two-mile stretch of highway according to the report.  That prompted a traffic stop, and Wallace pulled over in a parking lot on West Central Avenue at South 9th Street.  Just before coming to a complete stop, Wallace allegedly sped away.

A pursuit began where Deputy David Wormsley and Capt. John Long witnessed Wallace allegedly run four stop signs, pass five cars in a no passing zone and force oncoming traffic onto the shoulder to avoid a collision.  The officers ended the pursuit and after a brief investigation went back on the hunt for Wallace.

Wormsley and Long soon ended up at a home on Ivy Hollow Road.  Based on the report, the homeowner said Wallace was sitting on her back porch when she returned home. She asked him why he was there with him answering that he ran from police.

When police spoke with Wallace, Wallace allegedly admitted he ran from them.  Wallace allegedly said the reason he fled was because his license was suspended.

Wallace, of Knoxville, was booked into the Campbell County for the 11th time according to jail records.  Charges from this Oct. 22 incident include felony evading arrest, failure to maintain lane, reckless endangerment, drivers to exercise due care, traffic control device and driving on revoked/suspended (second offense).  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 11/02/2020-06AM)
